    Description

Up for bid is an antique Italian silver souvenir spoon with a bowl made of a 17
    th
Century coin, sadly damaged.  The spoon is 5 1/2 inches long and weighs 47 grams.  The bowl is formed from a 1 Piestra coin from the reign of Ferdinando de Medici of Tuscany, ca 1628-30.  The heavy twist stem is topped with remnants of a classical statue finial.  The piece is monogrammed “S” inside the bowl on the coin face.  There are no marks other than those on the coin.
Condition on the spoon is fair / poor.  The finial is broken off, leaving just some feet and other limbs.  The is also a cut mark and scrape on the bowl back, as a few stubborn spots.  Still an interesting old coin bowl spoon!
