A very nice medieval silver coin minted by Giovanni Soranzo, the 51st Doge of the Republic of Venice. The Republic of Venice was a major maritime power that dominate trade in the Mediterranean. The doge was the powerful elected-executive of the republic that serve a life-time term of office.
